Hi, I’m Lex!
I am a participatory artist and watercolour illustrator based in Guildford, Surrey, originally from Hong Kong.
I work on paper, mostly watercolour and coloured pencil, where there's no 'undo' button and every mark is one-of-a-kind.
Most of my work happens outside galleries. I love to bring art into community and everyday environments. I've posted 200 handwritten letters to my neighbours and asked them to write back, drawn with strangers on a blank canvas in Basel, and run drawing workshops in hostels and community spaces. I make interactive installations, run workshops, and take on illustration commissions.
I work with clients in London, across the UK, and internationally.
